ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

The Shepard School by ECS invites your scholar to become a part of our vibrant community! Our admission process is straightforward, and our dedicated team is here to support you at every step:

Inquire:

Begin by filling out an inquiry form, and a member of The Shepard School team will promptly reach out to address any questions you may have. You can also connect with The Shepard School directly at 234-517-7633 to schedule a personal tour or submit an inquiry online. Tour our campus and classrooms to determine if The Shepard School is the right fit for your child.

Apply:

Every family seeking to enroll their child must complete an application form. The application includes basic details about the parent or guardian and the child, such as names, ages, and contact information, as well as information about the scholar’s prior school. Families can submit the application online or work with an Enrollment Officer at the school to ensure its completion. As you finalize your application, an enrollment officer will guide you through the next steps. This includes informing you of the application deadline and addressing any outstanding application requirements.

Waitlist and Lottery System:

In the event that the school reaches its capacity, students will be placed on a waitlist, and a random lottery will be conducted as spaces become available. The lottery is open to the public and is overseen by the Board Chair, Superintendent, and Principal. The process is recorded and shared with the general public. The Shepard School offers sibling preference to keep families together. After the lottery, all parents will be promptly notified of the results. Those whose names are selected will receive a congratulatory letter, while the remaining applicants will receive notifications specifying their waiting list status and position.

Once students are enrolled at our school, they will not be subjected to the lottery process again. However, each year, they will need to complete re-enrollment forms indicating their intention to continue attending The Shepard School for the next school year.

Enrollment:

Upon acceptance, the final step is enrollment. This stage entails completing the enrollment package, which is more comprehensive than the application form. It includes providing proof of residency, release forms, IEP documents (if applicable), emergency contact information, a home language survey, and lunch applications, among other forms. The enrollment package will be furnished to you upon acceptance. Parents will receive a specific timeline to fulfill the enrollment requirements. If parents do not complete enrollment within the provided timeframe, the school will contact them to determine the continued interest of the students in attending our school.

Kindergarten and First Grade Enrollment:

Please note that to enroll in kindergarten, state law mandates that children must be 5 years old by September 30. For first grade enrollment, the requirement is that children must be 6 years old by September 30. If you have inquiries regarding early entrance to kindergarten or first grade, please reach out to the school administration.

We look forward to the possibility of having your scholar join our community at The Shepard School. If you have any further questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to assist you throughout the enrollment process.
